  Fluorotherm introduces corrosion resistant load bearing metal rods; with complete encapsulation in PTFE, FEP, PFA. These rods may be used to support work in a corrosive environment such as a plating or coating bath, as carrier to transport work in a chemically agressive environment and in numerous other uses. The rigidity of the metal core provides strength that cannot be matched by plastic rods. A PTFE or other adapter of appropriate configuration over the encapsulated rod can be used as points of support. This encapsulated construction provides the strength of metal and the chemical resistance of Teflon® type materials. Such construction can bear upto 700 lb loads in nitric, HF; hydrochloric and sulfuric acid baths and other hazardous atmospheres. The complete fluoropolymer encapsulation is distinctly superior to heat shrink tube covering where the wall thickness is too light to sustain reasonable loads or abrasive wear, without tearing or cracking. The high continuous use temperature of PTFE, FEP or PFA permits these materials to be used up to 400 deg F.

Fluorotherm is now able to provide rapid turnaround times for a wide range of colored tubing in standard and custom sizes. For the range of industrial sizes commonly available, please see our listing under "Tubing Products". Tubing is available in PTFE, FEP, ETFE and PFA materials. The product is shipped as rolls (coils) or in spools, if required, for sizes under 1/2" OD. While PTFE tubing is supplied in production lengths due to the batchwise production process, other materials are available in long continuous lengths, as required by customer. Color bases and loading unformity is carefully monitored so as not to detract from the inherent unique thermal resistance, chemical inertness and electrical properties of PTFE, FEP and PFA. These properties are lsited under "Detailed Properties" on our website homepage. RoHS certifications are supplied with colored tubing, as applicable.

Industrial Instrumentation Tubing

Fluorotherm has constructed and produced fabricated geometries from tubing for a variety of applications. These product forms can be made from a variety of materials, and are not limited to fluoropolymer tubing. Some examples of fabrication operations are as follows:

1. Bending
2. Shape forming
3. Flanging
4. Flaring the ends of tube lengths
5. Forming cuffs for fitting or other connections
6. Coil tubing, with predetermined diameter and length, to provide flexibility without kinks
7. Supported structures for coils, with separation between turns to provide even fluid flow, for example

Flurotherm continously endeavors to research and develop new methods to adapt tube geometries to new demanding applications. Some of these applications may require tight or restricted spaces or other special considerations.

Fluorotherm manufactures custom shapes and forms from fluoropolymer tubing and pipe. Tube coils and pre-bent forms are desired in a ultrapure manufacturing environment, e.g., semiconductor wafer fab facilities, where fittings such as elbows and unions create stagnant zones in a fluid flow pathway. Such forms, made to custom prints, allow a fully swept flow thus eliminating the possibility of contamination. Tooling for these sanitary flow products are either produced in-house or contracted to a specialty vendor.

Custom tubing sizes and pre-cut length tubing are available. Delivery of non-standard sizes, forms, shapes and coils generally require a longer lead time. Prints are required for coils and forms. Contact Fluorotherm for specific information.
